Tapestries
Traditional Exploration
Handwoven: Penelope Tapestry Loom.
Rainbow yarn hand spun: Majacraft Suzie
Inspired by traditional early American cross stitch patterns, I created this piece using hand spun yarn and thin remnant white yarn.
Mineral Exploration I
Handwoven: Schacht Cricket Loom
This summer I traveled with my Schacht Cricket 10” Loom. This weaving I created in Mineral, CA. I was meeting up with my fellow Spinning and Weaving Guild the Mt. Lassen Fiber Guild of Chico. I looked through some Rigid Heddle Weaving books and created this weaving.
I chose four different colors to weave together in different ways. These yarns are remnants from another project.
Mineral Exploration II
Handwoven: Schacht Cricket Loom
This is the second weaving that I created during my weaving retreat. I decided to use a variety of yellow and purple contrasting colors using a technique called “Clasped Weft.” Here I bring one color through to grab the other. I then played around with the proportions and the contrast of the two combinations.
